Life on our little Tennessee hobby farm has always been a mix of muddy boots, soap molds on the counter, and a whole lot of laughter in between. But lately, things feel a little different around here—in the best possible way.
We’re officially empty nesters… sort of. Our adult kids will be back home with us for a while as we get ready to welcome our very first grandbaby. (Yes, cue all the happy tears and nesting instincts—I’m already picturing tiny feet running around the farm one day!)
With that excitement, our house will be bustling again, filled with family dinners, late-night talks, and the sound of life being lived under one roof. It’s funny how life has a way of coming full circle.
Juggling Family & Business
Running BAM Fam Soap Co. (Mercantile) while life shifts around me has been a lesson in slow living and flexibility. Some days, the balance feels effortless. Other days, I’m literally stirring a batch of goat milk soap while a goat outside is protesting that I haven’t let her out yet, and my daughter is asking if I’ve seen her favorite hoodie.
But that’s the beauty of this season—it reminds me why I started BAM Fam in the first place. To create something lasting. To craft handmade skincare products that are as simple and nourishing as the life I try to live here on the farm.
Whether it’s our goat milk soaps, tallow body butters, or my husband’s small-batch hot sauces, everything we make is rooted in the idea that “less is more.” Fewer ingredients, more intention. Less noise, more meaning.
Why This Season Matters
Being on the edge of grandparenthood (still can’t believe I’m writing that!) feels like the perfect reminder that life doesn’t have to be rushed. It’s a new chapter, one that ties in beautifully with our values at BAM Fam: slowing down, savoring the simple things, and creating with care.
Just like our soaps take time to cure, or the cows take time to grow their glorious Highland coats, some of the best things in life can’t be hurried.
What’s Next for BAM Fam
This next season of BAM Fam is going to be about growth and grounding. Growth in the sense that we’re expanding—dreaming about new products, connecting with more people who value natural living, and strengthening our little mercantile vision. And grounding because I want to stay rooted in why I started this journey in the first place: family, tradition, and the joy of creating something with my own two hands.
And if you’ve been with me on this journey, I can’t thank you enough. You’ve been part of BAM Fam from the very beginning, and I hope you’ll stick around for this new chapter too—messy, beautiful, and exciting as it is.
